The essence of Christmas has been prevailed the true meaning of this Yuletide season through GIVING. After FSiL has pledged to give financial assistance to the victims of the catastrophe in the Philippines, we are happy to announce that some of our benevolent benefactors has given also their shares or pledges to the victims of the recent Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de oro and Iligan in the Philippines that took last December 17. This was after they got received our appeal letters sent to them. 

Typhoon Sendong (aka Typhoon Washi) left more than 600 dead this weekend as flash floods hammered the Philippines. There are also more than 800 people missing in the wake of Typhoon Sendong. Disaster agencies on Monday delivered food, water, body bags, and medicine to crowded evacuation centres in the southern Philippines as officials ordered the digging of graves after hundreds died from flash floods.The national disaster agency said 684 died after Typhoon Sendong (also known as Typhoon Washi) slammed ashore in Mindanao island while residents slept at the weekend, sending torrents of water and mud through riverside villages and sweeping houses out to sea.

LEKNES, LOFOTEN – The Filipino Society in Lofoten (FSiL) is pleased to announce a cooperative agreement with the Compass Shippers Ltd. (CS) effective last 19th November 2011. 

Compass Shippers Ltd., is a UK based corporation that is involved in the Import/Export business. It is the fast leading company for the freight transportation industry recently opened in Oslo last March 2011. This is managed by ALEX BOBADILLA who recently sponsored two balikbayan boxes being raffled during our FSiL Christmas party last November.

AFTER A MONTH OF WAITING, FILIPINO SOCIETY IN LOFOTEN (FSiL) IS NOW FINALLY INCLUDED ON THE LIST OF PHILIPPINES EMBASSY OFFICIAL WEBSITES AS AMONG THE RECOGNIZED FILIPINO ORGANIZATIONS EXISTING HERE IN NORWAY.
