My Mom Bella who lives in Sunnmøre, Volda is fond of cooking her best recipes. And this includes her pancakes commonly called Svela here in Norway. Whenever somebody came to visit their place, she usually served this to her friends and visitors. I remembered the last time we had made our surprise visit to Volda, my son Philippe Edward and I got the chance to taste this good delicacy. It was the first time my son had eaten the pancakes his Lola prepared for him. He just loved it and asked for more until he got enough. It turned out that it became his favorites ever since then within the few days we stayed in Volda. When the day we travelled back to Lofoten, we took a bunch of svela packed into our two baggages exclusively for him. He was very thankful to her Lola Bella for he could eat the best svela both in breakfast and for his dessert or may be served at anytime. Until we had run out of stocks of it and asked My Mom to send some more svela to his grandson. I was challenged and asked My Mom's secret recipe of making Svela instead. I wondered what it was in her Svela that tasted so special that made my son crazy about it.
Making svela isn't that difficult but simple mistakes can ruin a batch. When you learn How to make svela you need a great pancake recipes. However even the best recipe can be ruined. You need to master several pancakes making techniques that will turn out great pc everytime. So following carefully my Mom's way of making svela put me in suspense the outcome of it. Its appearance showed similar to My Mom's svela at least and the only question was if it tasted exactly the same of her.
I called my son and allowed him to make the final
words how it was tasted like. In My suprise he told me that "Er det Lola Bella som laget dette? Det er kjempegodt!" Translation: Was it Lola Bella the one who prepared this? It's so delicious!
IT WAS A SUCCESS IN MY FIRST ATTEMPT.
